How to relax when everything starts going upside down
Sometimes life doesn’t go the way we want it to. We can wake up in a mood and feel like our world is going to fall apart. It might not be for a specific reason but some days just go like that. You might feel like if something little goes wrong or differently from what is supposed to happen you will spiral down into your hole. Before this happens it is important to balance ourselves and although it can be hard, get ourselves up.
If not when we go into our hole and it is harder to get ourselves out of there. This will become easier when we recognize our patterns and what makes us react in certain ways. But that in a way takes years of practice, self knowledge and self love to know when to let go and back away from certain situations. Right now all you have to do is calm down and believe in yourself and that you can decide how to feel.
Take it one step at a time
Start by acknowledging your feelings, give them a little bit of time to be there. Negative thoughts and feelings should pass by, watch them go. The most important thing is to remind yourself that you will feel a certain way depending on what you chose to believe.
It is not about ignoring all of your problems and pushing them down but about choosing to let them go and learning to relax. It is about understanding what they are there to teach you. You can try to control your feelings and release them.
Things to do to calm yourself down…
- Read affirmations
These will help you know your worth and stay true to yourself.
- Color something relaxing
Coloring books are know for calming people down especially when using specific colors related to calm.
- Try distraction techniques
Distraction techniques will help you calm down because you won’t be focusing on how you feel but instead on something different.
Especially when doing breathing exercises or doing a guided meditation for your specific issue will not only help you relax but to let go of the problem in an easier way.
- Talk to someone
This helps a lot especially if you have a therapist or psychologist that will help guide you through what goes through your mind and maybe give you advice on what to do to feel better.
