The Truth Of Our Discomfort In Happiness
What to do when you are living the life of your dreams and it starts getting boring? This is a question that I have asked myself these last few weeks. After making a big move and getting to live my dream life for the moment I often wonder what’s next. I have been living with an abundance of happiness but it starts to feel weird.
When this happens we stop feeling the anticipation towards that which we wanted so much because we have obtained it. Perhaps that anticipation is what kept us on our toes and kept us excited. But what’s next then? What do I do if I already achieved all that I want for the moment and got all the happiness that I thought I deserved.
We are used to working so hard for something that we may have thought impossible. When we get it we feel stuck. Getting and achieving that goal or dream makes you the happiest, but now what. It could be really hard to now simply enjoy it. We need to learn that there are times of hard work and times of rest and enjoyment.
Why can’t we sit in happiness and enjoy ourselves?
It can become daunting to have to just exist without feeling that something is lacking from us. Your brain might be used to you living in an environment in which you are not in complete happiness. Eventually that became your comfort zone. The minute you exit it you might feel like there is something off. You ask yourself why can’t you simply enjoy your achievements.
This is because you are out of your comfort zone and it actually becomes hard to just enjoy yourself because you are not used to it. We might even feel like it is going to go away any second and become worried and start getting worried that we are not enjoying it too much. Leaving this comfort zone can also lead to you seeking conflict in regards to what you most recently achieved.
Why do we seek problems and conflict?
This is also an unconscious response of our souls and it also has to do with us not being in our comfort zone anymore. This could become self sabotage and lead to you no longer having that goal that you achieved or that happiness.
On the other side, seeking problems and this conflict is also a natural part of life. Some people actually need conflict in order to thrive because if not they get bored and they stay stagnant. So if they constantly have problems to solve they will feel like they are still working towards this goal and making it happen.
The only thing is that you have to enjoy it as well, not only focus on making it better. Enjoyment of the things you love will lead to you having more of it. So send those vibrations of joy out into the universe and they will reflect with answers and solutions to these conflicts.
Another way to look at it is that we need to have downs in life so that the ups actually shine. We might do this unconsciously or it might just happen. I believe that it is necessary so that we truly enjoy the good moments.
Why when we are having the time of our lives we exhaust ourselves?
As I mentioned earlier, another reaction could be wanting to do everything related to this new thing you achieved in like a week.
For example, I just moved to London and even though I’m going to be here for a long time I feel like I have to experience everything now. And that is not only hurting myself because I have had no rest time but my wallet as well. This has led to exhaustion which has then led to not wanting to go out and me feeling like I’m being unproductive.
Take that as a lesson to adapt to whether it is a new job, a new member in the family or even something that you really wanted to buy. It all comes down to to the fact that you are scared that this moment , thing or person won’t last forever. Instead of letting fear take over try to enjoy it.
How can I actually enjoy what I have achieved?
Try to create a routine so that you are not bouncing up and down everywhere. Keeping a journal will help you feel better as you will be able to have your memories forever in a certain way. Taking lots of pictures is also really a nice way to assure yourself that you actually got what you wanted.
Don’t forget to always use this phrase or any variation of it when you are feeling bored, exhausted or scared. “AAA I can’t believe that I’m actually…..I’m so happy!” In my case it would be something like that “Omg I can’t believe that I did it! I actually am living in London, AAA i’m so excited!” These kinds of phrases will not only help you seal that fact in your brain but I assure you that your whole mood will change when you say it. You will be able to enjoy it as much as possible.
