8 Reasons Why you should go to therapy

What is therapy

Therapy is defined as a treatment that heals, make you feel better, and stronger. There are different types of therapy but most of them include talking to the therapist about your life and your feelings.

I strongly believe that everyone should go to therapy at one point in life. Even if you are happy with your life. Your way of interacting with others, or the problems that you have with certain people can be due to the way you have been raised or how you function. Overall, apart from helping you solve your problems, therapy can help you be a better human being.

Here are 8 reasons why you should go to therapy:

1.Internal peace

Therapy brings you internal peace because it brings you calm. It brings you the reassurance that all of your problems are solvable. Shows you that you can do whatever you need to solve that issue. It helps you understand that the world isn’t as bad as it seems. There is always a way to find happiness.

2.Past traumas

Therapists help you get over what you once suffered, especially as a child. It helps you get over those things that really marked you in a negative way and affect you today in your day to day life and your relationships.

3.Self-esteem and confidence

I think that one of the biggest things that therapy has done for me is to give an identity and helped me build my confidence up. It makes you be sure of who you are. Especially it gets you on track with what you want in life and where you want to be.

4.Better person

Therapy allows you to better yourself so that you can be better to others. It helps you understand your flaws and how the others react to them and how they affect you. At the end only by improving yourself first can you be nicer and kinder to others and help them with what they need.

5.More empathetic and understanding

This goes along with being a better person. Knowing yourself better allows you to understand that other people also have to deal with themselves. It helps you get in your head that other people feel too and they have feelings. It leads you to know that not everything is about you.

6.Better at communicating

Communication is key in every relationship, and this is a valuable lesson that therapy teaches. It teaches you how to communicate in a healthy manner and learn how to treat people in order for them to trust you and better communicate their feelings to you.

7.Solving specific personal issues in relationships

Sometimes there are specific issues that you have with a certain person in your life. With these types of problems the therapist can find the deeper issues and traumas that you have. They are good at giving advice about what to do in certain cases, but not in biased way, in a way in which you can think of your own solutions according to what you really feel.

8.Recognizing your thoughts and feelings

Some of us tend to push away our thoughts and feelings because we are either scared of them or we don’t want to acknowledge them. Therapy teaches you that it is okay to feel and that having emotions is normal. It allows you to recognize and dissect your thoughts so that you can better understand yourself

Go to therapy. Even if there come days in which you cry and regret going to therapy because your therapist gives you a reality check. In the end, a few months later or even years you are going to be thankful that you started that journey. Because nothing is better than improving yourself and getting self-awareness and consciousness on who you are and what is your purpose. The world will thank you for becoming a better person and you will thank yourself for loving yourself more.
