why do we feel guilty when we manifest?

It is a fact that manifestation has been a big part of the healing journey of many.

For some of us is what spiked our curiosity about that side of ourselves. Maybe it started with mainstream information getting your way until you reached the idea that shadow work is as important for manifesting as being high vibe.

Where did we go from there? To our healing journey. Realizing that the more open and honest we are with ourselves the more expansive our life gets.

When we start to get our manifestations we might be over the top excited and grateful about what has come our way.

But I’m sure that in the back of your head there is a voice that goes something like:

“Great I got the dream car, now why has my dream relationship and dream job not gotten here yet.”

It can sound like the opposite of being grateful. It may even look like you are just asking for too much. You question why it is not completely fulfilling and you feel guilty for this questioning.

What can we find in that guilt?

That feeling of guilt that comes along with questioning ourselves has been in us before. What about when you journal? Do you feel guilty when for example, you are writing down about problems with your family even though they have given you the world?

That guilt you feel is normal but it can prevent you from getting where you want to be because you might look greedy or insatiable.

A lot of this guilt can come from childhood wounds when we were taught to conform and the idea of gratefulness was swept in negatively.

When you just wanted a hug from your mom but you had to be grateful that she bought you the most expensive toy that almost no kid can afford.

Situations in which you were happy with what you got but weren’t necessarily what you needed at that moment as a child.

The same thing happens with manifestations.

We are happy that we got the new car but we wonder why didn’t we get the exact model that we were reaching for. And guilt comes with that feeling as well.

The lesson:

A lot of us grew up to understand that if we wanted more we weren’t being grateful.

What we need to learn here is that not everything is black and white, we are allowed to feel grateful for what we just received and at the same time want to reach for more.

As we could be grateful for the toy our mom gave us but still want a hug.

We need to destigmatize the idea in our minds that wanting more and being happy with what we have as well isn’t impossible.

To do that you need to:

  1. look at situations in your past where you have struggled with this and re-open that conversation that you had with yourself in your mind at that point.
  2. Then transform the scenario in your head to a more grey thinking one in which you were able to strive for more and be grateful at the same time.
  3. Feel how that change allows you to welcome more into your life and at the same time stay present

At the end of the day, manifestation works wonders. Some may say that it has very specific rules and it asks you to do everything at the same time, but when you realize that it isn’t everything at the same time but one thing it becomes easier.

Don’t think of it as being grateful + wanting more. Think of it as a way of being and a core concept of manifestation. This part of manifestation connects directly to staying present and opening up to what is possible. Tap into it with the exercise above and best of luck!
