Inspiration to be a better person and why it’s worth it

What makes you a better person

Being a better person has a different definition for a lot of people, it is based on each persons’ values and morals. For a lot of people, a good person is someone who is responsible for their actions and is kind to people that surround them. A good person is one who always seeks to improve and to grow. It is someone that is caring and values things that are not only materialistic.

10 reasons why it’s worth it to become a better person:

1. Become aligned with your values-

When you follow your values you stay true to yourself and that brings peace and stability within yourself.

2. Others see you as more friendly-

When you become someone nice and caring, people will generally reciprocate those feelings and be more friendly to you as well.

3.You become a reliable person-

Being a reliable person means that people can count on you to be there when they need your help or when they need you emotionally. This in turn means that there is a higher probability that they will be there to support you when you need them.

4. People treat you like you treat them-

When you put anger into the world you will get back anger and the same with all the other emotions. People will be nice to you when you are nice to them and people will be rude back when you are rude. Being a better person will make other people behave that way towards you.

5. Helping others feels good-

When you do something selfless your body releases feel-good hormones. It makes us feel a little bit more complete and whole. Not to mention the gratefulness these people will show towards you.

6. Being respectful to others makes you respect yourself

When you are nice to other people you realize that you are too hard on yourself and that maybe you need to treat yourself as well as you treat others.

7. You go easier on yourself-

Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves and when we realize that people make mistakes and we forgive them, we give ourselves a chance to make mistakes ourselves and learn from them.

8. You allow yourself to grow-

Learning from mistakes allows us to grow. Not to mention that being nicer to others and taking responsibility for your actions says a lot about who you are and how far you have come in your self-development journey.

9. People will look up to you

When people notice who have you become and all that you have achieved they will want to either be like you or better than you. Sometimes people take it as a competition but we have to realizer that it means that more people will follow your example.

How can you become this person

Becoming a better person is a complete journey. It starts step by step changing how we behave and how we see the world on a day to day basis. I believe that it starts with emotional control which leads to emotional responsibility. This way we learn to act according to the consequences that our words and actions will have on other people. As the process goes on we start treating ourselves better and go way easier on ourselves when something bad happens and we allow ourselves to feel. The most important lesson for becoming a better person is to remember that we are human and as much as we make stuff happen, stuff happens to us too and sometimes things are out of our control and the only thing that we have control over is ourselves and our actions. And you can think to yourself, how can I make this better.
