The Importance Of Daily Affirmations To Control Your Thoughts

What are affirmations?

Affirmations are powerful phrases that people use to not only remind themselves of something but to make it true. Stating them allows you to have further control over your thoughts and beliefs. They come from the idea that thoughts shape your reality. So when you affirm something you are stating it as the truth. It could be compared to the frase “fake it till you make it” but with a more healthy and positive connotation.

Affirmations are a reminder of who you are already if you let go of everything that is holding you back. For example, if you tend to struggle with a lot of negative thoughts your affirmation can be “how I feel matters, therefore I concentrate on the aspects of life that make me feel good.” And that is what you will be doing after you say that affirmation. It will remind you of your path, what you need and who you are to let go of the negativity.

Many ways they can be done

Affirmations generally work in any ways but some of the most known ones are.

1- Speaking them- which you basically say them outloud, memorizing them can help the most since you have them available whenever you need them.

2. Writing- Writing your affirmations down is also very powerful and tends to go towards manifestation. Of course it takes more time and dedication but that is what gives it the strength.

3. Reading- Reading your affirmations is what I like the least, especially if you are not reading them outloud because I personally feel like it takes meaning away from them, but it works for some people.

Affirmations can start in many different ways and you can phrase them in the way that works the best for you. Some options are “I feel…,” “I am…,” “I know…,” “I chose…,” “I have….” This last one is my least favorite because affirmations have to be about yourself. I strongly believe that if you want something you don’t go “I have money,” instead you affirm that you have what it takes (the mindset) to achieve that, “I am abundant,” and to give it more power, “I am abundance.”

What will they help you with?

Affirmations will help you become the best version of yourself because it will help you work with the beliefs and attitudes that you find negative or unnecessary. It will shift your mindset towards a more positive one. A way to remember your affirmations is to put them somewhere that you will see them and can remember to tell them to yourself. I put little post-its next to my mirror so I can read them and then say them outloud. Looking at myself in the mirror and saying them she doesn’t forget. I know some people have a thing with mirrors and might think it is bad to do that but if you are comfortable with it you should do it.

If you tend to make coffee every morning, paste them above your coffee maker. If you read at night before going to sleep, put them where you will put your book before going to sleep and read them before going to bed.

Some of my favorite affirmations:

  1. How I feel matters, therefore I focus on the aspects of life that make me feel good.
  2. I provide to myself until it is provided to me
  3. Everything happens for me, not to me
  4. I chose happiness, I have happiness, I am happiness
  5. I focus on the abundance, not on the lack
  6. How I love myself is how I teach others to love me
  7. I trust myself, and I know exactly what to do.
  8. Everything is as it should be, I am in the right place at the right time
  9. Depending on what I chose to believe is how I am going to feel.
