Why Perseverance Is Important For Growth

What is perseverance?

Perseverant is an adjective often used to describe those people that don’t walk away from their goals even when there are hardships. I would like to add to that definition another meaning. The resistance to the comfort zone. The comfort zone puts as much pressure on you to not accomplish your goals as anything else. It is worse because it comes from inside you. It is yourself, your brain, telling you that it is not possible and that there is no way you can accomplish this thing you are looking to achieve.

The good part of this is that since it is an internal voice keeping you down it is always to fight it. It is going to be harder than any of the other obstacles that you encounter. But when you pass it, it is what is going to give you the most freedom. Remember that everything starts from the inside.

Which results will it ultimately bring you?

This perseverance will not only help yous surpass your other obstacles and accomplish your ultimate goals but it will also help you grow as a person. Your comfort zone has now expanded, you have not defeated it. The only way to defeat your comfort zone is to no longer be afraid to leave it, which is hard because every time you expand it, the things you have to learn become harder.

Remember that expanding your comfort zone doesn’t necessarily mean doing dangerous things or being afraid to make a move towards your goals. It can also mean allowing yourself to be successful because part of us is afraid of success. Part of us is afraid of the effort and the recognition that comes with that. Maybe we are not used to it. Leaving your comfort zone also means recognizing those fears that you have. That way you can achieve all of these goals without internal limitations.

What is hard work without burn out?

One big thing that people tend to forget is that when we start achieving things fast we suddenly can’t stop. Not giving yourself a rest and not flowing with how things are going and putting pressure on things you can’t control can often lead to burnout. This is a feeling that a lot of people are familiar with.

Burnout is pure exhaustion caused by all this pressure and stress that you have been putting on yourself that you are maybe not used to. Especially when you are leaving the comfort zone, this one causes the most exhaustion and overwhelming emotions. That is why it is important to be perseverant with it. The second you burn out you will not want to keep going on. But perseverance also means respecting yourself. Don’t go that far above and beyond your limits that you are suddenly not able to move forward. That is why you should take it slow and with patience without wanting to achieve everything at once. Remember that everything happens one step at a time.

It is all about learning how to balance your achievements and your relaxation time.
